Black to the Future is a collaborative of 17 agencies committed to enhancing educational and economic opportunities for the African American community by instilling the necessary tools to become successful through Family Support and Advocacy; Education; Health and Wellness; Workforce Development; and, Violence Prevention. Westside serves as the Lead of the Health and Wellness Cohort and works with the Bayview Hunter’s Point YMCA and Healing for Our Families & Our Nation to deliver critical services to the African American community including psychotherapy, case management, emergency housing and food support. Black to the Future’s goal is to engage youth and young adults ages 14 to 35 around a continuum of culturally competent services that consider their role in family, community, and the overall landscape of San Francisco.

Westside’s African American Health Collaborative utilizes an Afrocentric holistic approach to service delivery, acknowledging that African American families are impacted by socio-economic co-factors that influence outcomes. Afrocentric means utilizing the history, culture, philosophy and collective experience of African people as the frame of reference for providing treatment. This program focuses on our most vulnerable residents including returning citizens from incarceration; residents in crisis from trauma; and families living in the Western Addition and Bayview Hunter’s Point communities.
