Chief Executive Officer 

Robert Rybicki

Robert is a native of Chicago, Illinois, but has resided in the Bay Area for the past fifteen years. He brings to the Chief Executive Officer position over twenty-five years experience in Senior Management positions as an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, with budgets ranging from $1.5 to $10 Million. He has outstanding background in leading a variety of non-profit organizations in Chicago and Northern California:

As Executive Vice-President and CEO of Bonaventure House and the Center for Assisted Living in Chicago, he oversaw a thirty-bed residential facility for Dual and Triple-diagnosed individuals; As the Assistant Health Commissioner at the Chicago Department of Public Health, he spearheaded HIV/AIDS and STD initiatives in communities of color, redistributing resources and talent to areas most impacted by these epidemics; As CEO of Shanti of San Francisco, he led the oldest HIV/AIDS organization in the country and helped to develop national programs and expanded services by working with these agencies.

Robert is a visionary leader and a change agent and has a reputation for transforming and building sustainable organizations: As the CEO of the Youth and Family Assistance Agency, he negotiated its merger with Family and Community Enrichment Services to form Youth and Family Enrichment Services, a multi-service organization that employed one-hundred-seventy Staff members.  Under his leadership, the organization became the largest provider of Children and Family Services in San Mateo County.

As CEO of the National Brain Tumor Foundation, he orchestrated its merger with another National Brain Tumor organization, The Brain Tumor Society in Boston, Massachusetts, which required him to travel extensively if he became CEO of the merged enterprise.  Instead, Mr. Rybicki declined and resigned his position, which made him available for the CEO position at Westside.

Robert was attracted to Westside because of its rich history, the array of services provided, the size of the organization, and the opportunity to enhance Westside’s programs and services to meet the challenges of the future

 

Betty Abacan, C.P.A.

Chief Fiscal Officer

Betty Abacan, C.P.A. graduated from the University of the East in the Philippines with a BS in Business Administration. Under the direction of the Executive Director, Ms. Abacan provides Westside with leadership in all areas of finance and general operations. She functions as the principal fiscal officer in directing Westside’s financial and budgetary activities.

Prior to coming to Westside, Ms. Abacan as the Controller/Department head of Administrative Services for the Family Service Agency of San Francisco.
